FOODIES are guaranteed to have a spring in their step this month, as the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival (LFDF) announces the date for its Spring Festival.
Taking place on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 April 2016 in Sefton Park, the festival will celebrate the awakening of spring, with a number of themed activities such as a fresh flower fair, children’s enchanted garden, street food in the woods and grow-your-own demos.
There will also be several themed foodie zones dedicated to genres such as fresh fish, chocolate and street food, while those in search of something a little boozier will love the dedicated ‘Gin Market’.
Green fingers will be inspired by a number of live gardening demonstrations while a Children’s Area will include a petting farm and live puppet theatre.
The festival will also be an opportunity for visitors to do a little shopping, with an array of fresh produce and kitchen essentials on sale at the producers’ market.
Bars, restaurants and producers already confirmed to take part in the event include Baoxen Ltd, Little Furnace, Oh So British Street Food, Fudge Factory, French Corner and the Real Thai Pie Co.
And for those who can’t wait till April to indulge their epicurean side, there will also be a Wine Evening in the Sefton Park Palm House on Wednesday 16 March 2016.
Discussing the plans for the event, Denise Harris, Director of the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival, said: “The festival is such a popular event with the people of Liverpool, but a year is a long time to wait between events, so we decided to run a food festival in the April too.
“This year though, the focus isn’t just on food, it’s about welcoming in a new season, so there will be a big focus on gardening, baby animals and enjoying the riot of colour spring brings to the beautiful Sefton Park. It will feature everything people love about the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival, but with a wholesome twist. It is certainly giving us all something to look forward to to help us get us through winter!”
