PT to host menopause event on 11th October

LIVERPOOL personal trainer Harriet McGuffie is hosting a Menopause Morning on Saturday 11th October.

From 9.30am until 1.30pm, guests will be taken on a journey of education to empower as many women as possible to evolve the way they look at their health through the decades.

With knowledgeable speakers taking to the panel to discuss their areas of expertise, the Menopause Morning falls in line with Breast Cancer Awareness Month and includes powerful messages about female health including how to combat the effects of menopause, whilst providing an opportunity for women to ask questions from industry experts and receive factual information.

Harriet will offer expert insight into the changes women’s bodies go through during menopause, how to train best based on different side effects of menopause and take care of yourself from inside out.

Alongside Harriet, there will be five other speakers that are experts in their fields; Dr Hoyle, an experienced NHS GP and aesthetics doctor with a special interest in women’s health and the menopause. She has completed the British Menopause Society Menopause Certificate and is currently working towards her Advanced Certification, further deepening her expertise in supporting women through this important stage of life.

Margaret Bell has 47 years of cooking experience with expertise in gut and hormonal health. She will deliver a talk and demo created especially for women navigating perimenopause and menopause. She’ll explore the link between gut health, declining hormones, and inflammation, as well as why joint pain and changing digestion often appear at this stage of life.

Also featuring on the panel is Sarah Norris, a specialist physiotherapist in advanced pelvic health, based at The Physiotherapy Centre in Liverpool. She is passionate about empowering women through all stages of their lives including menopause,  treating many women in her clinics every day, focusing on a wide range of conditions and helping women regain confidence and improve their quality of life.

The fourth speaker is Geraldine Mitchell, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon and Deputy Medical Director for Surgery at the Royal Liverpool Hospital.

Geraldine will be raising awareness of breast cancer, the most common cancer in the UK, delivering a powerful talk on the breast cancer journey from diagnosis, to treatment and beyond. Primarily affecting women over 50, Geraldine’s insight will add a vital element to the event, for women attending to discover how to cope with menopause and the risks of breast cancer, what to look out for and how to seek advice.

The final guest speaker is Elissa Corrigan, founder of Elle Sera, a performance-led supplement brand created for women who demand more from their wellness.

With a background in health journalism and a sharp eye for science, Elissa built Elle Sera from the ground up; self-funded, meticulously formulated, and driven by purpose.

Harriet, creator of the Menopause Morning, said: “I’ve been in the health and wellbeing space for over 25 years now and I see so many women each year who are suffering from the effects of menopause or perimenopause. It’s something all women will go through in their lives and I feel so passionate about supporting them in that transition. After all, that’s half of our population!

“From issues with sleeping, to struggling with weight gain, gut health and energy, menopause affects every woman differently and my goal is to bring together industry leaders to provide expert knowledge on how to live healthier, happier and without menopause dominating their lives. I’m so grateful to have such talented speakers and am really looking forward to welcoming all of our guests on Saturday 11th October at my gym on Woolton Road.”

Tickets are £40pp and available to purchase directly at Harriet McGuffie Fitness on Woolton Road, or via Instagram. They include tea, coffee and a healthy lunch.
