IT looks as though gin-mania is here to stay, which is great news for sisters Gaynor Purcell and Lisa Copp, the business brains behind Liverpool based Fabulous Gin Company.
Fabulous by name and fabulous by nature, the dynamic duo are making a name for themselves in a man’s world, launching Fabulous Pink Gin in summer 2019 following the success of their Absolutely Fabulous Gin Festivals.
So, where did it all begin?
Director of Fabulous Gin Company Lisa Copp said: “Following a background in the leisure and hospitality industry, we’re no strangers to business and have been running our family-owned company Aries Leisure for over a decade; offering premium marquees to clients across the North West.”
In 2016, they were approached to host a drinks event for a venue and their second venture, Absolutely Fabulous Gin Festival was born. Still a sell-out success today, the region-wide events showcase over 120 gins within iconic locations such as the Royal Liver Building and St Helens Town Hall, attracting up to 3,000 guests each year.
Director of Fabulous Gin Company Gaynor Purcell said: “Having promoted other gins on the market for a number of years, Lisa and I had the idea of launching our own brand of the premium spirit and the rest is history. After four years of market research, we decided to create our very own pink gin, focusing on natural ingredients for a low-calorie and deliciously sweet product that boasts hints of strawberry laces.”
The sisters describe their product as “smooth and sweet with elements of fruit liqueur, whilst maintaining a satisfying dryness only seen in a classic gin.”
Heading up an independent business is no easy feat, but Gaynor and Lisa remain hands on in their approach and work across the board on every aspect of the company and its products. When it came to creating Fabulous Pink Gin, they were involved in every element from the drawing board to production, devising the concept, taste testing the formula and designing the brand all whilst running their marquee and events business at the same time.
According to the pair, Fabulous Gin Company was born sitting on the floor with a pen and paper – now it’s available to buy online alongside a whole host of merchandise from gin glasses to shopping bags.
