THE BRINK has been awarded funding from PH Holt Foundation to host an extended programme of activity for the local community.
Liverpool’s only dry bar has received a grant of £8,000 over the course of a year, which will be used towards the cost of events supporting children of those suffering from addiction. In addition to the funding, The Brink and Action on Addiction will also be providing £7,500 towards the new scheme.
The PH Holt Foundation is an independent grant-maker working to create a better future for the people of Merseyside through its funding of local charities.
General Manager of The Brink Carl Bell said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this funding from PH Holt Foundation and look forward to seeing the community benefit from this. As part of Action on Addiction, we are already proactive locally and host a number of regular events and workshops, but the additional help of the foundation will be invaluable in extending our services and raising awareness of the work that we do.
“We will be using the funding to enhance our events for the younger generation, providing support for children of parents suffering from addiction through activities including monthly Young Musicians Showcases, where we will invite young talent to perform in our venue. This is a fantastic way for them to nurture their creative side as well as integrate with other members of the community to create lasting and supportive friendships. Alongside this, we will be hosting celebratory events throughout the year to mark occasions such as Bonfire Night and the Christmas season as well as The Brink’s seventh birthday celebrations in October.”
The Brink offers a varied events programme month on month including family support groups, yoga, live music and five-a-side football to name a few. The venue also operates as a dry bar and eatery serving heart-warming dishes and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages including pressed juices and smoothies.
Carl added: “As well as hosting events on site, we will be focusing on outreach activity in the coming months, raising awareness amongst the local community including schools and community centres to educate their young residents of the services available here at The Brink and through Action on Addiction. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive environment for all– whether you would like to join us for a regular event or drop in for a cup of tea, you are guaranteed a warm welcome.”
