Grant For Theatre Group

THEATRE group 20 Stories High has received a grant of £81,030, delivered over three years, to provide theatre sessions, workshops and other activities for children and young people who come from a deprived area and are experiencing a range of barriers to participation.

Taking part in the activities enables the children and young people to develop new skills and knowledge, increases their self-confidence and self-esteem and encourages them to reach their potential.

Leanne Jones, Executive Director at 20 Stories High said: “With this funding from BBC Children in Need we’ll be able to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people from excluded communities in Liverpool. We’d just like to say a huge thank you to the people that have made this happen.”

The funding will allow 20 Stories High to continue offering their very busy and inclusive programme of work. This includes free participatory workshops, Youth Theatre and Young Actors Company sessions and performances, community and schools outreach as well as opportunities to invite other community groups to perform at post show jams and showcase events.

The grant also covers the costs of supporting the youth advisory group, Future Collective, and taking the young people away one year for a residential weekend.

The company will also use the money to continue to provide unlimited pastoral support on a drop-in and scheduled check-in basis.
