SCOUSE was served for lunch at Goodison Park on Wednesday 10 February as Everton Football Club and its official charity Everton in the Community supported Scouse at R House in true blue style.
The club hosted the lunch as part of R Charity’s new flagship fundraising event Scouse at R House, which is run in partnership with Global Scouse Day. Everton’s famous mascot Changy joined R Charity’s mascot Roy of the Royal for a bowl of delicious scouse, donated by Everton’s catering partner Sodexo, to help raise awareness and vital funds for R Charity and its £10million new Royal Liverpool University Hospital appeal.
Carena Duffy, fundraising manager for Everton in the Community said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Scouse at R House initiative with the funds raised helping to provide much needed services to the people here within our community.”
Aimee Clare, senior community fundraising manager at R Charity, said: “Our new Royal hospital will provide the best of care for many Evertonians, so we are thrilled that they have decided to host a Scouse at R House event at Goodison Park.”
“R Charity is investing money raised from our appeal into the latest high-technology equipment for diagnoses and treatments, creating environments that will provide fantastic comforts and conveniences for patients and families.
“We are very excited about the difference our appeal will make to the new hospital, and we are extremely grateful for the support of local people and organisations like Everton and Everton in the Community.”
Laura Worthington, organiser of Global Scouse Day on 28 February – when Liverpool folk everywhere cook up the taste of home and raise money for R Charity – also attended.
