Call out for Music Month to be helped by live music filling the streets

FROM hairdressers to delis, opticians to offices, businesses across Liverpool city centre are being invited to bring live music to their venue to celebrate Liverpool Music Month in May.

Liverpool Business Improvement District is offering funding for any business in the city centre to take part in the summer of music with “Making Music for Music Month”. They can host a music performance or a piece of window art to be displayed to celebrate music in the city.

From 1st to 31st May, Liverpool Music Month will be a city-wide celebration of the people, projects and creativity that make Liverpool a UNESCO City of Music, backed by a global and national destination marketing campaign to champion everything that is happening in Liverpool in May. Then, from 1st June to 31st August, the city region will celebrate Liverpool Summer of Music, highlighting all of the events across the summer calendar in Liverpool City Region.

Liverpool Music Month and Liverpool Summer of Music will target music-loving visitors from across the UK and beyond to experience the best music from around the globe in the World’s Music Capital.

Bill Addy, CEO of Liverpool Business Improvement District said: “One of the things our businesses always say is that they want to be part of major events when they come to the city. We know from our city wide festivals, like Hope Street Blend and Celebrating Bold Street and Castle Street, that businesses along our city centre high streets want to be involved and part and parcel of the culture in the city. It’s part of what they call the “pavement ballet”, enhancing and animating the public realm, and giving people a reason to stop for a while and enjoy the sights and sounds. Anywhere can be a stage, and we’re encouraging our city centre businesses to prove that”.
