Daisy Desire to bring the glamour to Southport Flower Show

TOM Leonard is a student from Warwickshire, who happens to have a passion for gardening… and drag. After a break up in 2019 he decided to get an allotment, where his love of gardening continued and his decision to become a drag queen himself, began.

Tom AKA Daisy Desire – The Drag Queen Gardener, brings a glamorous splash to the horticultural world, or “the couture to your manure” as she likes to say.

Tom is currently studying for his Level 2 Royal Horticultural Society Practical Gardening qualification so that he can take his and Daisy’s passion even further.

The gardening world was calling out for something fresh and Daisy Desire is now a well known face within mainstream society for adding some sequins to the horticultural scene, and her joyful personality and a refusal to take life so seriously, has proven a tonic to audiences of all ages as she sets out with the aim to promote the mental wellbeing benefits of horticulture whilst giving people the motivation to be who they want to be and simply do what makes you happy.

Daisy will be at the show on Saturday 20th August and will join a great line-up of special guests this year. On Thursday we have BBC Gardeners’ World Presenter Adam Frost. Friday we have former Strictly Come Dancing stars Janette Manrara and husband Aljaž Škorjanec.  Saturday we have The Hairy Bikers cooking live. Sunday we have children’s TV presenter Justin Fletcher and Great British Menu finalist and Ready Steady Cook chef Ellis Barrie. More to be announced soon.

Alan Adams, general manager of Southport Flower Show and Victoria Park said: “We are really excited to welcome Daisy to Southport in August. We are looking to bring more diversity to the show and to have Daisy talking openly about her journey and promote the benefits of gardening, we know she will be welcomed”.

Plans for this year’s show are well underway and the combination of show gardens, floral displays, cookery demonstrations, arena entertainment, live music and much more makes Southport Flower Show a great day outdoors for the whole family this summer.

Southport Flower Show, sponsored by Home Bargains, is a registered charity (charity number 1000698) and the largest independent flower show in the country attracting over 55,000 visitors across 4 days. Early bird tickets now on sale for £23.00 until the end of May. Children under 16 go free.
