Local business owner buys grand property to offer micro events

WIRRAL based Owen Drew is set to capitalise on what will be one of the biggest trends of 2021 – micro weddings and intimate events.

The firm, which has gained considerable success in the home fragrance market since its inception in 2016, recently purchased a large Victorian property near Oxton with a view to marketing the venue as Wirral’s most intimate and exclusive events space.

Heatherfield House is a villa which sits atop a quarter acre of land close to Wirral’s Claughton Village. The property, which has always been a private residence, was built by handmade bricks in 1845 by an industrious cotton merchant as a gift for his daughter on her wedding day.

With hundreds of local brides eager to finally tie the knot after a year of covid induced uncertainty, founder of the brand, Drew Cockton, says he has received dozens of enquiries since launching his website, Heatherfieldhouse.com, less than a week ago. He commented: “Nobody is sure what 2021 will bring but for many, delaying their nuptials by another year is out of the question.

“Many couples want to start families and settle down, so they are ditching the big traditional wedding in favour of something more intimate with their nearest and dearest. This is exactly what we can offer at Heatherfield House”.

Since purchasing the property six months ago, Cockton has been busy readying Heatherfield House for its launch as a venue by securing partnerships with what he describes as ‘the finest’ suppliers in the business. “Our ethos is quality over quantity; with couples limiting their guest list to thirty, they can afford to spoil their nearest and dearest with the finest food and drink available without breaking the bank”.

The venue will also cater for small events such as corporate dinners and round tables, as well as personal celebrations. “We will be offering private hire for all types of events, having been able to pivot with new client needs,” adds Drew.

“This is the opportunity for a fantastic and memorable experience, from champagne and canapes in the walled gardens to indulgent private dining.

“We will be working with award-winning caterers Cheeky Chilli and Michelin Star chef Marc Wilkinson from Restaurant Fraiche in Oxton.

“There is nothing quite like this available at the moment, and to be able to fill the gap in the market as a local independent business owner is a huge step, and we are ready to impress.”
