Urban beach returns to Calderstones Park

A FAMILY-FRIENDLY urban beach with fairground rides has returned to Calderstones Park in Liverpool for the fourth year.

Junior Lord Mayor’s Jenita Jophy and Tom Bowe joined Lord Mayor, Cllr Christine Banks, at the opening.

They were joined by dozens of families, all eager to find deckchairs and play in the sand in the specially built beach, complete with wooden seating and decking, and all free to enter.

In addition, there are a number of children’s rides – aimed specifically at young families – all priced at £1.50.

There are special offers on throughout the week, with rides costing £1 all day every Wednesday.

Councillor James Noakes, Cabinet member for parks, said: “The beach has grown to become hugely popular with local residents and is a great day out.

“Some of the attractions this year are here for the very first time, so we are keeping things fresh, and introducing new ideas to help families find things to do in one of our most beautiful parks.”

The Urban Beach will remain in Calderstones for the summer holidays, finishing in early September, open from 10:30am – 5:30pm every day.
