Arriva names bus after Doddy

ARRIVA has unveiled a brand new design on-board one of its buses to commemorate the legacy of Sir Ken Dodd.

Awarded to only the most legendary and esteemed Liverpudlians, Arriva has named one of its buses after national treasure and local comedian Sir Ken Dodd, who passed away earlier this year.

After an incredible career as a stand-up comedian, tickling the hearts and minds of the nation with his feather duster, Sir Ken was widely regarded as one the best comedians of his time.

Lisa Pearson, Head of Marketing for Arriva North West commented: “Ken was such an inspiration and much-loved character in Liverpool, and so we couldn’t think of a better way to honour him and his contribution to the arts industry.

“We hope that people will look out for his name on the bus and that this will once again bring a smile to all those who remember him and his joyful spirit.”

Passengers will be able to see the newly named bus on the number 10 and 10a service, which operates through Sir Ken’s lifelong home of Knotty Ash.

Robert Holmes, Sir Ken Dodd’s publicist commented: “We are very touched at this kind gesture, Ken would be so proud if he were here to see this today.”

The newly named bus will read: ‘In remembrance, this bus is named after Sir Ken Dodd. 1927 – 2018. A true Liverpool comedy legend.’
