LOCAL shoppers were out in force this week when Wilko opened its doors at Liverpool Shopping Park.

Queues outside the new store started forming at 8am with more than 150 shoppers keen to get a first look at the new Wilko store.

The first 100 customers received a £20 gift card, while shoppers on the day enjoyed free hot chocolate and received Wilko bags for life with a free candle in from stilt walkers.

A ceremonial ribbon cutting was led by Wilko Retail Director Anthony Houghton and Sarah Swanson, a representative from Save the Children who attended on behalf of the Wilko Charity Partnerships. Wilko Charity Partnership supports Teenage Cancer Trust, Alzheimer’s Society and Save the Children.

Branch Manager Phil Pendleton presented the charity partnership with a £600 cheque for all three charities.

Wilko Liverpool Branch Manager, Phil Pendleton, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support of the local people, it’s a very positive start to our residence here at Liverpool Shopping Park and we can’t wait to welcome more customers to the new store.”
