SECONDARY schools and sixth form colleges across Merseyside are being invited to take part in free workshops in acting and musical theatre. The sessions are being delivered at schools and colleges throughout the region by Liverpool Theatre School.
Hundreds of pupils are set to benefit from the workshops, which form part of Liverpool Theatre School’s commitment to nurturing young talent and encouraging stars of the future.
Pupils can choose to attend either a session in musical theatre or acting, where they will learn the basic principles of each discipline. During the workshops, budding young stars of the stage will also have an opportunity to put their questions to experts from Liverpool Theatre School.
Maxine Ellis, Principal at Liverpool Theatre School, explains: “We are working with schools and sixth form colleges to offer two separate workshops; one in musical theatre and one in acting. Both offer a great introduction to anyone with an interest in pursuing a future in either of these fields.
“During the fun and interactive sessions, pupils can pick up tips and advice on how to turn their passion for the stage into a career. There are so many talented young people who could become successful performers with the right level of training and support. It can be a tough industry to break but more than 90 percent of our students go on to achieve success in musical theatre or progress to higher education.”
Liverpool Theatre School was established almost 80 years ago. Many of its graduates have appeared in top West End musicals and tours including Oliver Ormson, who is has appeared in Cinderella, The Book of Mormon, Westside Story and is currently touring with The Addams Family.
The free workshops in musical theatre and acting are open to all secondary schools and sixth form colleges across Merseyside. Schools can register for a free workshop with Liverpool Theatre School by contacting Alex Medlicott on 0151 728 7800.
