Stars Announced For Empire Panto

LIVERPOOL Empire have announced that television, musical theatre and pop star Duncan James and actress and singer Jodie Prenger will lead the cast of this year’s family pantomime, Cinderella from Saturday 16 December 2017. Playing Prince Charming, James, best-known as a member of the band Blue, Duncan and his bandmates released five studio albums, releasing 16 singles, collaborated with artists including Stevie Wonder and Elton John and represented the UK in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. Duncan has appeared in the West End in Chicago and Legally Blonde, and has appeared on numerous television programmes, including Soapstar Superstar and Dancing on Ice where he made it to the final. In 2015 Duncan starred as Tick in Pricilla Queen of the Desert the Musical at various theatres across the UK and began filming his role of policeman Ryan Knight in Hollyoaks, filmed in nearby Childwall. His recurring role saw him nominated at the recent National Television Awards for Best Soap Newcomer. Best-known for winning the role of Nancy in the West End revival of Lionel Bart’s Oliver! through the BBC talent show I’d Do Anything, Jodie Prenger rose to fame singing for survival in front of a panel of famous judges and millions of television viewers every Saturday night. After a brief appearance in Les Misérables, Jodie went on to perform the role of Nancy to public and critical acclaim at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, winning the Theatregoers’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical. Joining them as Cinderella’s best-friend Buttons will be comedian and entertainer John Evans. No stranger to the city of Liverpool, John played the role of Gerry Edwards in the football comedy One Night in Istanbul in front of 6,000 people at the Echo Arena, and has appeared twice at The Actors Studio in Closing Time and Falling out with the Jones’s. Cinderella will be produced by Qdos Entertainment, the world’s biggest pantomime producer in a brand new partnership with Liverpool Empire operators, ATG.
