Blues Legends Vie To Become Everton’s Master Chef

BLUES favourites David Unsworth, Leon Osman and Peter Reid will put their cooking skills to the test next month as they take part in Everton’s Master Chef in aid of ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’.

The event will be taking place from 7pm on Wednesday 12 April at the Pullman Liverpool, with former Everton stars Osman and Reid joining the Toffees Under-23 manager Unsworth in re-creating some of their favourite dishes, each preparing one course which will then be enjoyed by the Blues in attendance.

Sponsored by the financial planning and investment management group Tilney, tickets for the first ever Everton’s Master Chef event are priced at £100 + VAT and include an arrival drink, a three-course meal cooked by the triumvirate and entertainment.

A first team player will also be present prior to the first course being served for a Q&A session and a short meet and greet with all attendees. A handful of Under-23 stars will also be in attendance throughout the night, taking on a number of front-of-house roles including, welcoming guests, serving food and taking drinks orders.

All proceeds from the exclusive event will go towards ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’, a fundraising campaign led by David Unsworth and his Under-23 squad to support young people on the brink of homelessness across the city of Liverpool. The fundraising target of £230,000 will be used to fund and develop a supported living initiative for young adults aged 16-23-years-olds, delivered by Everton in the Community.

FA Cup winner Unsworth said: “I can guarantee this will be a fantastic night for everyone in attendance. Reidy, Ossie and I are already feeling a bit of the pressure as we each try and decide our favourite dishes to cook and Everton Master Chef takes us all out of our comfort zone slightly. We are all naturally competitive and of course we all want our dish to be declared the winner but ultimately, this is all about raising more money for ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’ and ensuring we can help as many young people in need as possible.”

Alan Edwards, Head of Investment Management, England at Tilney, commented: “Tilney was founded in Liverpool in the 19th Century, the same as Everton football club. As with them we are always keen to give back to the community where we first began. We are delighted to support Everton’s fundraising activity with the ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’ campaign.”

Aside from offering young adults a roof over their head in difficult times, the Club’s official charity will play a large part in their development by providing them with access to key services including health and wellbeing support and assistance with education, employment and training as well as encouraging them to contribute to the local community through the NCS programme and volunteering.
