NATIONAL and local media turned out to meet the line-up of celebrities who will perform in Sleeping Beauty at The Epstein Theatre this April. Producer Lee Kelly introduced former 911 star Lee Brennan who will be starring in the panto alongside Liverpool’s very own Tina Malone at a press launch held in Brian’s Bar in the theatre on Hanover Street. Tina Malone, who plays the evil Carabosse, said: “I’m so excited to be performing at the Epstein Theatre as it’s the only stage in the city I haven’t been on. This is a very special theatre and a part of the city’s heritage and what producer Lee Kelly does here is phenomenal. “I’ve never been in an Easter panto before and I’m looking forward to starring alongside a young and talented cast but I’ve warned them I’m very strict backstage! “I encourage all parents to get their children off their iphones and bring them to the Epstein this Easter – panto is a great way to introduce them to the theatre!” Introduced by presenter Debi Jones as the “Peter Pan of Pop”, Lee Brennan enjoyed huge success with the 90s band which had 10 top ten hits, two number ones and many sell-out tours throughout Europe. A seasoned panto star, Lee revealed how he is looking forward to playing the Prince with a ‘love interest’ and is “very excited to be spending time in Liverpool!” Lucy Edge stars as Sleeping Beauty for Easter 2017 and showcased her impressive vocals at the press launch with her solo No One But You from the musical We Will Rock You. She said: “Princess Aurora is one of the princesses I’ve had on my ‘to do list’ for ages so I can’t wait to play her and as a Chester girl, I’ve looking forward to sampling life in Liverpool.” Producer Lee Kelly also introduced Emmerdale and Casualty star Melanie Ash who plays the Good Fairy and his new protégé 17-year-old Kyle Corrin who will be getting his big break playing his first professional role as Silly Billy. He said: “I’m so excited – I’ve wanted this since I was a little boy and I’m so thankful to Lee for giving me this opportunity. I’m so looking forward to working alongside the professionals!” The panto will run from Friday April 7 – Sunday April 23 and tells the tale of the beautiful Princess Aurora who is cursed by an evil fairy, and must wait in eternal slumber until the spell is broken by true love’s kiss.
