Gin Garden Back For A Third Year

LIVERPOOL’S only dedicated gin garden is ready to bloom for its third year, with the opening weekend taking place over Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th March.The Botanical Garden is an idyllic home for a variety of flora and fauna which adds to the relaxed ambience and sense of being a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, which is only a ten minute walk away but feels like much further.There’s a keen focus on that once derided and now lauded juniper-flavoured spirit, with mouth-watering gin and tonics from a special menu of bespoke drinks suitable for any occasion, sipped and supped in the al fresco setting. Some of the signature cocktails available include:
  • The Tarragona; Portobello Road Gin, oleo saccharum, fresh lemon & tarragon, soda. Served with a lemon slice and tarragon sprig
  • The Hot G&T; Portobello Road Gin, tonic syrup, boiling water, served with an orange twist & juniper berries
  • The Baltic Iced Tea; Portobello Road Gin, Creme de Peche, fresh lemon, chilled Earl Grey tea. Served long with a lemon wheel & peach bitters
There also is a street-food feast to be savoured at Ta’amiya. A homage to Morocco and the falafel, Ta’amiya is the first venture of Michael Carey, former head chef at Puschka, and they are delighted for The Botanical Garden to be its first home. Delicious offerings will include Murguez meatballs, Mayan wonder, the Marrakesh Express, the falafeldog, wraps and much more for both carnivores and vegetarians.The Botanical Garden’s opening weekend is across Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th March, and then so long as the weather permits it, the venue will be open each and every day through the spring, summer and into the autumn from midday – 11pm, always with free entry. During the course of the season there will be some special surprises too, including musical showcases and occasional guest DJs.
