Magnificent Moment For The Choir With No Name

THE Choir, for vulnerable adults and those who have experienced homelessness, will perform their “Big Autumn Gig” at St George’s Hall tomorrow (28 October) with support from Ukulele Club Liverpool and The Liverpool Signing Choir.

The concert will mark an incredible milestone in the lives of the members, many of whom have lived a troubled life, with challenges ranging from mental health problems to relationship breakdowns and drug or alcohol addictions.

Gareth, an Ambassador for the Choir, said: “The Choir has been a big part of my life over the last year now.  I first started going to the choir whilst I was in a hostel and not really in the best place mentally because I had a lot of issues going on with family and other things.  The Choir has actually saved my life without then even knowing it because they helped lift me out of a dark place with their joyful and non-judgmental attitude and amazing friendly atmosphere.  They helped me take my mind off everything and have no worries one night a week.”

The choir sing uplifting pop songs and aim to build confidence and skills among members, creating an environment where people can form lasting, genuine friendships and set themselves on the path to a positive future.

They rehearse every week at The Bluecoat and sit down for a hot meal afterwards.

Choir member Anastacia Marshal said: “I’m singing my heart out to some great tunes, just to make sure my voice is ready for the stage. I’m so excited I can barely contain myself! I’m counting down the hours.”

Tomorrow’s concert has been made possible with the support of The Sovini Group.

Choir Manager Ema Quinn said: “We are delighted to have the Sovini Group supporting our Big Autumn Event.  It makes such a difference having a great friend in our corner.  We provide a space each week for people to leave their worries behind for a few hours and enjoy singing together, and it’s surprising what an impact this can have on people’s confidence and ability to cope in the world.  With Sovini helping us make this event a great success we can grow that confidence even further and we hope the people of Liverpool will join us on the night to sing our hearts out for a very special local choir.”

The Big Autumn Gig takes place at St George’s Hall on Friday 28th October, with guest performances from the Ukelele Club and the Liverpool Signing Choir.

The performance starts at 7.30pm, with tickets £12 and £7.50 concessions available from
