Last Chance To Have Your Say On Market Place In Prescot

IF you live or work in Prescot, or regularly visit the town, don’t miss this final opportunity to shape the future of the public open space at Market Place. The open space at Market Place, just below the Parish Church and War Memorial, is where the commercial town centre meets the Church, churchyard and cemetery, the retail park and people’s homes. The Prescot Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) is planning to redesign this community space and how it will be used in the future. Could it be a play space for children or somewhere quiet to sit and enjoy a book, a monthly market or a local café? You can make your views known on Saturday 3 September, 9.30am – 3.30pm at the old M & Co unit in Prescot Shopping Centre. Local people have already shared their ideas at a series of community design events and workshops over the last two months but this is the final chance to have your say on how the space could be used, who it should be for and how it should feel. You can also join in with free activities for all ages; design your own mug or t-shirt or enjoy a game of prize bingo. The monthly Arts and Craft Fair and Producers’ Market also takes place on the same day. The re-design of Market Place will be the final of the public realm improvements as part of the Prescot THI and will be the single biggest project of the entire five-year investment programme funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
