Queen Of The Bake Off Nadiya To Headline City’s Food Festival

FRESH from making the official birthday cake which marked the Queen’s 90th birthday, 2015 Great
British Bake-Off winner Nadiya Hussain is to guest at the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival this
coming September.

Nadiya, who won the sixth series of GBBO, in an emotional final that was viewed by more that 15
million viewers chose to bake an orange drizzle cake with a buttercream and marmalade filling for
Her Majesty’s birthday, which was presented to her at Windsor in April.

This year’s food and drink festival will take place in Liverpool’s Sefton Park on Saturday 17th and
Sunday 18th September.

Now in its ninth successful year, an estimated 45,000 visitors attended last year’s event which
includes an impressive mix of chef demonstrations, masterclasses, themed dining areas and
pop-ups as well as showcasing the city’s bars and restaurants.

At the festival, mother of three Nadiya will be hosting baking demonstrations on the festival Saturday,
where she will share her cookery tips and give advice, as well as meeting festival-goers and
signing copies of her latest book.

Previous celebrity guests have included GBBO presenter Paul Hollywood as well as top chefs Tom
Kitchin and Marco Pierre White who enjoyed taking part so much he came back two years on the
run.

Denise Harris, Managing Director of festival organisers, SK Events commented: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Nadiya to the festival in September, her performance on The Great British Bake Off was inspirational and we’ve been following her progress closely after winning the last series.

“We’re now in our ninth year of the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival and as we head towards our
tenth anniversary in 2017 it’s great to still be delivering an event which involves both exhibitors and
guest chefs who are very much at the top of their game.”
