Newton will be taking on the role of Johnny. Newton Faulkner said “My first ever band was essentially a Green Day cover band, with one of the guys currently in the show, Lucas Rush, so it’s amazingly strange to be reunited under these circumstances. I can’t wait. The first record I ever bought was Dookie, so yea, I was a massive Green Day fan, still am.” Newton will join X Factor finalist Amelia Lily who will be reprising the role of Whatsername. Amelia Lily said “I’m so excited to be a part of American Idiot on tour! It’s been an amazing experience playing Whatsername in the West End and now I get to do it all over again next year around the UK, bringing this incredible show to a wider audience who haven’t had a chance to see it in London!”
