Young Unsung Heroes To Be Celebrated

2015 award winners
REMARKABLE Merseyside young people are to be celebrated at the 5th Annual Ykids Believe Awards, an event which looks to recognise children and young people who are unsung heroes. This year Ykids, the Bootle based children’s charity who set up the awards have teamed up with Radio City Cash for Kids and opened up the competition across the whole of Merseyside.“We will be recognising remarkable young people who make the world a better place” said Claire Morgans CEO of Ykids. “And thanks to Radio City and Cash for Kids this year’s event will be bigger than ever.”Carole Clare, Charity Manager of Radio City Cash for Kids said: “We are delighted to be involved with the Believe awards as we work with lots of children’s charities and organisations and it is lovely to be able to recognise the achievements of some remarkable children, often when they are in difficult situations.”The theme this year is ‘History makers’ and awards are dedicated to historic Liverpool heroes such as Noel Chavasse and Josephine Butler.Children aged 7 – 17 were nominated by their schools, communities, friends or family, for any one of ten categories, and each of the 10 winners and their family will receive VIP treatment at a gala dinner and awards ceremony at the new Garden of Eden on top of the Shankly Hotel in Liverpool city centre on June 30th. Inspirational guest speakers include Andy Grant – the Bootle born Marine who lost a leg in Afghanistan and went on to compete in the Invictus Games, and Yasmine Chopra, one of last year’s winners who at the age of 6 was so moved by the Ebola Crisis that she began to make fudge and sell it to raise funds, later after learning her Grandmother had cancer she trained to run 1k to raise funds for the Roy Castle Lung Foundation and is now at the grand old age of 8 raising awareness around bullying. The judging took at the Radio City Tower which was a challenging process but every child that has been nominated will received a certificate in recognition of their contribution even if they do not win an award. For more information contact Ykids 0151 9442111,  or Cash for Kids 0151 4726965, to attend the event can be purchased online at or
