MORECROFTS Solicitors has promoted Jo-anne Lomax, who originally joined the firm as a legal clerk, to partner. After arriving at Morecrofts in 1994, Lomax studied at Liverpool John Moores University and built a successful career as a leading family law solicitor at firms across the region, before returning as an associate solicitor in 2011. An accredited Children Panel Specialist and Resolution Specialist, she has worked across all areas of family law and now specialises in the area of children law, which includes public law children cases, private law cases, special guardianship matters and adoption. Jo-anne is based at Morecrofts’ Allerton Road office and becomes the firm’s 14th partner, of which nine are female. Prior to returning to Morecrofts, she worked for regional law firms including Canter Levin & Berg and Cobleys LLP. Speaking of her appointment, she said: “If someone had told me when I first walked into Morecrofts 22 years ago that I would eventually become a partner here, it’s fair to say I wouldn’t have believed you. “It’s a professional dream come true, really. The firm was known as Morecrofts Urquhart back then and much has changed since that time, but the firm has always kept its excellent reputation for family and private client law services in particular. “Our clients trust us to look after the most critical issues in their lives and that responsibility is something we as a firm take incredibly seriously. The fact that Morecrofts has endured for more than 200 years is undoubtedly testament to the faith people vest in us every day. “I am proud to become a partner at a firm that means so much to so many people in Merseyside and I am looking forward to helping to expand our reach even further.” Alison Lobb, managing partner at Morecrofts, said: “Jo-anne has been a much-loved and valued member of the Morecrofts team for many years and the dedication and expertise she brings to her work is unparalleled. “Her appointment as partner was a natural one for the firm and we are confident she will make an important contribution to our future plans for the business.”
