Get Healthy Get Active

LOOKING to Get Healthy and Get Active? The brand new Sefton Council programme aiming to get vulnerable adults more active is now in full swing and there are still spaces available. Get Healthy Get Active, a joint venture with Edge Hill University and funded by Sport England, mixes practical sessions with vital research into the impact of exercise on targeted groups. The three-year programme focuses on adults with learning difficulties and those over 65 who are at risk of dementia or falls, improving health, social isolation and increasing mental wellbeing. Sessions are already proving popular with organisations, including One Vision House, Sefton Advocacy for Older People, Southport Community Centre and the Formby Hub, signing up to 6 week block sessions. Dependent on the group, activities vary from chair based exercise, zumba gold, yoga and strength & balance through to indoor bowls.
