Uplifting Entrepreneur Provides Support For Cancer Research

A YOUNG university graduate who recently launched her own line of lingerie aimed at women with breast cancer has announced a charity partnership which will support cancer research. Morgan Dowler, founder of Love Me and My Secret Ltd.  has named North West Cancer Research as her first ever charity of the year and will donate a percentage of her profits to the charity, in the hopes of one day finding a cure for cancer. The 23-year-old entrepreneur set up the company earlier this year, after her mum Amanda, 54 was diagnosed with breast cancer. Disappointed in the choice of bras following surgery on offer for women like her mum on the high street, Morgan researched the market and discovered a gap for lingerie which is both comfortable and attractive. Following discussions with doctors and surgeons, as well as women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, Morgan has created a range of bras which are both practical and feminine. The range is available online and Morgan hopes to roll out the lingerie to high street retailers over the next 12 months. Morgan selected North West Cancer Research as her first ever charity partner, after learning of its commitment to supporting cancer research here in the North West. She hopes to support various cancer charities on annual basis, helping support research and treatment programmes for women with breast cancer. North West Cancer Research is the biggest locally-based funder of cancer research and has committed to funding more than £12.3million worth of research over the next five years – £8.1million of which will be based at the University of Liverpool. Anne Jackson, CEO North West Cancer Research, said: “We are delighted to be selected as the first charity partner for Love Me and My Secret Ltd. “Many of our long standing supporters have undergone breast cancer treatment and know all too well the struggle of finding underwear which not only fits well and is comfortable, but looks nice too. “It’s inspiring to see someone like Morgan using her own personal story to create something which will hundreds if not thousands of women all over the UK, not just here in Merseyside.” Every year nearly 58,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK, which is the equivalent of one person every ten minutes. In Merseyside around 343 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed every year, making it one of the region’s most prevalent cancers. Morgan added: “My mum’s bravery inspired me to set up this company. She has been given the all clear with her cancer, but I know from her journey how difficult the diagnosis can be. “There are so many issues that women like my mum have to deal with – many of which affect your confidence, but unimaginative and boring underwear shouldn’t be one of them. “My mum would have really valued feminine stylish bras which shape and fit, something we never found on the high street. Now thanks to her, I’m able to offer an alternative to women all over the UK. “Working with North West Cancer Research, also enable me to support cancer research in the hopes of improving our understanding of the disease, its diagnosis, treatment and sure.”  Love Me and My Secret Ltd. currently offers four different bras ranging from £30 – £44.00 in 16 different sizes starting from a 34B up to a 40DD. The products are all very pretty and incorporate different design features from forward fastening to high wings and larger cups. They are available to buy online at: www.lovemeandmysecret.com
