Final Call For Spark Up Applications

THERE is just under a week to go until applications for the latest Spark Up programme close and founder Jenny Stewart is encouraging budding entrepreneurs to sign up. Applications for the fifth programme will close on Sunday March 20th and organisers hope to attract the brightest start-ups from all over the city region, to fill up to fifty places on the free programme. Spark Up is a 12-week long business accelerator, delivered by Liverpool & Sefton Chambers of Commerce, with the support of NatWest. The programme offers support and advice for entrepreneurs via a series of workshops, seminars and one-to-one mentoring. It covers everything from the perfect pitch, business practicalities and realties through to developing an entrepreneurial mind set and making the right connections. Since its pilot programme in 2014, Spark Up has supported 110 businesses, helped create 124 new jobs in the city region and generate investment totalling £534,300 – a total which exceeds their half- million-pound target. 97.9% of businesses who have enrolled on the Spark Up programme are still in operation today. Collectively businesses on the programme have generated a turnover of more than £1million. Ms Stewart said: “We are looking for driven, passionate and committed individuals with a business or business proposition to join us on our fifth programme. “Spark Up has been designed to help these early stage entrepreneurs and drive them forward to growth and success. Those who are lucky enough to secure a place will be able to take advantage of our network of business supporters and enablers, via workshops, master classes and one-to-one mentoring sessions. “Our successes to date show that there is an appetite in Liverpool for supporting and inspiring new businesses, and proves that the Spark Up model really does work. “Over the past three years I have watched our entrepreneurs grow as individuals and, with that, grow their businesses. Now as we embark on our fifth programme, I look forward to welcoming even more new and inspiring individuals, who share our determination to make Liverpool one of the best places in the UK for start-up businesses.” Applications can be made via the Spark Up website www.sparkup.org.uk and close 5pm Sunday 20th March.
