A RECORD 36 private sector partners have joined Liverpool’s delegation to attend international property conference, MIPIM in Cannes this year.
The 2016 delegation exceeds the 27 businesses that supported Liverpool at the event in 2015. New sponsors include AECOM, Capital and Centric, Carpenter Investment, Kingsley Associates, K2 Architects, MODA, Morgan Sindall, Network Space Ltd, Northpoint, Panoramic, Peel Ports, Promenade Estates, Savills and Signature Living.
These businesses will join existing Liverpool at MIPIM sponsors Arup, Bilfinger GVA, Brabners, Bruntwood, City Residential, Colliers, Countryside Properties, Deloitte, Downing, Falconer Chester Hall, Glenbrook, Grosvenor, Harcourt, Innov8 Safety Solutions, ISG, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Liverpool BID, Liverpool John Moores University, Peel, Redrow and University of Liverpool.
Liverpool MIPIM steering group chairman Sean Beech, said: “The city’s delegation is made up of businesses that are eager to support the city and to promote it as a great place to do business. This year we will once again be speaking to high level investors who have their eye on Liverpool as a destination and we will be highlighting the many attributes that the city has.”
Max Steinberg, chief executive of Liverpool Vision, said: “We are extremely pleased that the private sector in Liverpool has once again shown its support for the city at MIPIM. The delegation has increased by 33% from 2015, which is fantastic for the city and we are very optimistic that we will make 2016 an even greater success. We are very proud of our city and the fact that so many private sector businesses have pledged their support for Liverpool is testament to its suitability in terms of attracting high level businesses and international investment.”
Peter Hynd, chief executive at Promenade Estates Ltd, a new sponsor for this year, said: “We are delighted to be part of the city’s delegation at MIPIM this year. We believe that Liverpool is a great city to invest in and we look forward to supporting the city and spreading the word, especially at a time when so much is happening from a property and investment perspective.”
Richard Ainscough, managing director at Network Space Ltd, said: “We are very pleased to be joining the Liverpool delegation this year and we look forward to a very busy MIPIM, making the most of unlocking many interesting opportunities for our business and for the city.”

Liverpool’s profile at MIPIM has been raised further by the fact that two events will form part of the official MIPIM programme. On Tuesday 15th March, the city will take part in the MIPIM City Investment Forum, Northern Powerhouse event which will be held in the Grand Auditorium. The event, which is being led by Manchester, will include guest speakers Sir Howard Bernstein, Manchester City Council; Roger Marsh OBE, Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership; Ged Fitzgerald, Liverpool City Council; Pat Ritchie, Newcastle City Council; Sir Nigel Knowles, Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership; Mark Rawstron, Bilfinger GVA; Iwan Griffiths, PwC and Andy Bounds from the Financial Times.
On Wednesday 16th March, the Mayor of Liverpool will lead a multi-city delegation in an event entitled, International Waterfronts “How waterfronts unlock tourism and regeneration”. The event will be facilitated by Greg Clark from The Business of Cities, Stephen Cowperthwaite from Bilfinger GVA will give the keynote speech and Mayor Joe Anderson will provide a response to the keynote speech. This will be followed by a panel discussion with Suzanne Wylie, Chief Executive Belfast City Council; Jurgen Bruns-Berentelg, Chief Executive Hafan City; Hans Van Rossum, Chief Development Officer Rotterdam and Ellen De Vibe, Chief Town Planner Oslo.
