Calling All Scousers! Get Cooking For R Charity

SUPPORTERS of R Charity which is fundraising for the new Royal Hospital are celebrating the city’s most iconic dish – scouse – through the chilly month of February, and calling on everyone to join in. Supporters can sign up and pick up a Scouse at R House pack so they can host their own scouse parties for family and friends, and fundraise for R Charity too. The pack will include recipes, BBC Radio Merseyside breakfast presenter Tony Snell’s scouse nous quiz questions, songs on Spotify and party decorations and the challenge is on for everyone to join in. Keep-calm-and-eat-scouseR Charity has teamed up with Global Scouse Day, the day Liverpool folk everywhere cook up the taste of home. “I am proud to partner with R Charity who are working to provide the people of Liverpool with the best facilities in the new Royal,” says Laura Worthington, organiser of Global Scouse Day. Top Liverpool chefs and restaurants, including Dave Critchley at London Carriage Works restaurant, are behind the scouse month, which runs all the way to Global Scouse Day on 28 February. The month long ‘scouseathon’ will start on 1 February with ISS catering staff at the Royal attempting to create a world record biggest ever batch of scouse in the hospital’s restaurant. Ged Carter, head of fundraising at R Charity, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate a real icon of Liverpool life and to encourage our supporters to share a warming bowl of scouse and raise money for the new Royal too.” To register for your Scouse at R House pack or to find out more contact the fundraising team: email fundraising@rlbuht.nhs.uk or dial 0151 706 3150 or log on to http://www.rlbuht.nhs.uk/Fundraising/Pages/Scouse_at_R_House.aspx
