Acts Announced For Merseyrail Sound Station Festival 2015

THE Merseyrail Sound Station Festival returns to Moorfields station this November when 10 artists will vie for a special prize of a year of professional music industry management, recording time & free Merseyrail travel.

The Merseyrail Sound Station Festival will see the culmination of up and coming musicians from across Merseyside recording tracks and uploading their videos in a bid to win the coveted Sound Station Prize. Upload locations in train stations across the region have seen entries being recorded and the Sound Station pop-up stage has been at festivals throughout the summer.

Ten finalists have now been chosen from a very strong field of entries and will perform at Moorfields on Saturday 21st November. A panel of expert industry judges including last year’s winner Blue Saint will then pick a winner on the day from an exciting crop of artists. The winner will gain a year’s professional music industry mentoring, free travel on Merseyrail as well as studio time and slots at festivals throughout 2016.

The following artists will play sets on a stage at Moorfields station as part of the festival:

Merseyrail Managing Director Jan Chaudhry also expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative: “We’re very excited to present yet another programme of emerging musical talent from Merseyside. Over the last few years, we’ve seen Sound Station grow from strength to strength and become an essential platform for burgeoning young musicians in the city region. We’re right behind this initiative and are delighted that it continues to thrive.”

Merseyrail Sound Station is now in its fourth year and has continued to develop and is firmly on the radar of all the region’s festivals and thought of as a fantastic springboard for new musicians. This is borne out by the high calibre of acts who have submitted entries to the prize and those that will feature in this year’s final. The rail network hopes the project goes some way in animating the commuter experience with a free monthly podcast available as well as events happening in the stations.

The Merseyrail Sound Station Podcast is recorded at Tankfield Recording Studio, based at Fallen Industries Studios, Wirral, with esteemed Record Producer Michael Johnson. Michael has previously worked with artists such as New Order, Soft Cell and Joy Division. Michael will also be part of the judging panel at the final event.

The latest version of the podcast is available at www.merseyrailsoundstation.com.

Merseyrail Sound Station Festival takes place on Saturday 21st November from 1pm-4.30pm at Moorfields Station. Entry is free.

The winner of the Merseyrail Sound Station prize will be decided by the judges and announced at the event. The judges decision is final. Full T&Cs are available at merseyrailsoundstation.com/terms-and-conditions/
