Winter Warmer Event At Community Cafe

AS winter is just around the corner an event at a community café will help people cope with the worst of the weather – and provide information about energy bills. The free winter warmer event takes place at St David’s Church Friday Café, Childwall, on 6 November, 10am to 12 noon. It is the latest in a series of community events at the café, set up using the Neighbourhood Fund allocation for local Councillors Ruth Hirschfield, Frank Hont and Jeremy Wolfson and which has run successfully for more than two years. It will provide advice about the importance of keeping active and healthy in the winter months  and there will be information on a range of subjects including energy efficiency, switching energy supplier, fuel poverty  and benefits. There will be a free prize draw – and those attending will get a free hot drink on arrival. Councillor Ruth Hirschfield said: “A winter warmer event was staged at the cafe in February and it proved to be extremely popular and useful for local residents, “And, as winter ,and the worst of the weather, approaches this latest event will be just as valuable in showing people how they can keep active and healthy as well as dealing with issues about energy bills. So come along and let your neighbours and friends know about it!” Pictured are Childwall Ward Councillors Jeremy Wolfson, Ruth Hirschfield and Frank Hont with Richie Quinn (Energy / Fuel Poverty Officer), Kate McCormick (Localities) and the Healthy Homes team at February’s winter warmer event.
