THE LIverpool shopping centre will be unveiling what is believed to be the tallest Christmas tree in the UK as part of a spectacular Christmas Party extravaganza on Friday 13 November.
The tree, which will stand 30-metres tall, will start to take shape on Paradise Street, near John Lewis from next week when the big build begins.
A team of six expert tree builders will work flat out for two weeks to ensure the tree is ready in time.
The 23-tonne structure includes a 12-sided steel cone, 280 heart lights, 314 light rods and more than 2,000 metres of cabling to supply the power to illuminate the giant structure.
Liverpool ONE is promising visitors the biggest Christmas party the city has ever seen to celebrate the tree’s switch on – and everyone is invited. From 4pm, expect live music, street entertainment and Pantomime performances, plus an unforgettable lightshow created in partnership with Liverpool Empire Theatre’s Creative Learning Team – you definitely won’t want to miss it!
The light show – inspired by Liverpool’s One Magical City campaign – promises to take the audience on an enchanted adventure as shoppers, families and day-trippers of all ages eagerly await the arrival of Christmas. Because no festive celebration is complete without the traditional Christmas cracker, Liverpool ONE will be giving away thousands on the night, with a surprise inside every one.

The Ice Festival will return, including an ice rink, the UK’s largest real ice slide – this year featuring an extra lane, fairground rides for the little ones and a real Ice Bar.
If the chill factor doesn’t appeal, head for the cosy Après Lodge and enjoy a mulled wine or hot chocolate.
For the shopaholics, there are more than 600 brands to choose from.
