THE Epstein Theatre has a real treat in store for music fans this autumn/winter season with a sensational line-up of concerts to suit every musical taste from guitar greats and chart-topping pop to Irish folk and 90s indie rock!
The iconic venue on Hanover Street has established itself on the city’s live entertainment circuit since it reopened in May 2012 and continues to attract national and household names to the theatre as part of its regional and national tours – and this new season is no different with the diverse choice of shows and concerts on offer.
Who said that girls can’t play guitar? October gets off to a great start when Planet Rock Live presents Joanne Shaw Taylor on 1st October. This celebrated British blues rock guitarist and singer/songwriter performs songs from her critically acclaimed album The Dirty Truth.
Following his nationwide debut last year, Liverpool’s John O’Connell will be bringing Simply Dylan, his personal exploration and celebration of the rich and diverse work of Bob Dylan to the Epstein on 2nd October and promises to delight Dylan fans young and old.
Returning to the Epstein for the third time is legendary pop icon Dean Friedman who will perform songs from his three decade career including the chart-topping hit Lucky Stars on 10th October.
An evening with China Crisis on 17 October will see this ever popular 1980s band perform their classic album, Flaunt The Imperfection. Relive their hit songs which saw the band spend 92 weeks in the charts.
Canadian singer/songwriter Ron Sexsmith will captivate the Epstein audience on 20th October with his deeply sensitive songs and bittersweet melodies.
Meanwhile, the talented Ron Vincent will draw you into a wonderful journey through the repertoire of Cat Stevens on 23rd October.
On November 26, Cara Dillon will be serenading the Epstein Theatre with songs of lost love and emigration from her native Ireland. With her staggeringly beautiful voice, it’s hard to find a more emotive and captivating performer.
She is followed by fellow Irish musicians The High Kings on 27th November – the most exciting Irish Folk Group to come along in years. The High Kings play 13 instruments between the four of them, bringing a rousing acoustic flavour to brand new songs and a few old favourites.
A perfect present for the Beatles fan in your life, Mersey Beatles present the Liverpool premier of their new show The Movies & The Magic on 1st December – a celebration of the best songs from The Beatles movies.
