Spectacular horse show to return to Echo Arena

LEAPING bikes, racing Shetland ponies, spectacular family entertainment and legendary band names – where else?  The Liverpool International Horse Show, Echo Arena Liverpool from 29-31 December.

Liverpool is famous for hosting the most iconic steeplechase in the world at Aintree – and the Liverpool International Horse Show has the pleasure of bringing spectators their very own version of that nail biting race in miniature. The Shetland Pony Grand National will see pint sized jockeys on very feisty ponies racing their hearts out to be led into the winner’s enclosure.  These Shetlands take their racing very seriously and travel all over the country performing at high profile shows…very high in ‘cute’ factor and a firm favourite for the kids.

FMX, or Freestyle Motocross takes the sport of Motocross to another level with riders flying off a purpose built ramp with their bikes 40 feet in the air and will feature in every session. Due to the risky – some might even say downright crazy – nature of the sport, freestylers are highly paid sporting stars who compete in year-round competitions. The team will lay down their best tricks and ‘whips’, which are guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seats.

The New Year’s Eve session will start with World Class International Show jumping, with riders battling to become the Liverpool International Grand Prix Champion – a title currently held by Irishman Billy Twomey. After this the New Year’s celebrations get underway with the fun of the International Knockout, where riders race against each other round a mirror image course.

The show will bring spectators even more pyrotechnics and excitement with New Year’s Eve specials from Luminoso – the dare devil stunt display with horses and fire, the Freestyle Motocross riders and the Shetland Pony Grand National Final.

Liverpool International President, Nina Barbour said: “We are very excited to be bringing a brand new equestrian extravaganza to the UK. Luminoso features fire, pyrotechnics and some of the best horse trick riding in the world.  Six highly skilled horses and riders will be wowing us with their acrobatic displays to a dramatic soundtrack and plenty of thrilling action!”

Also new for 2017 is live music from Rick Parfitt Jnr (son of Status Quo’s legendary singer & guitarist Rick Parfitt) and the RPJ band which is comprised of some of the finest session musicians in the country.  They are famed for being the best party rock band in the UK, and will be performing every session with a very special party set to bring in the New Year!
