AN installation full of colour and sound called The Luminarium will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the classic Beatles album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
This extraordinary installation will be available on Chavasse Park from 29 May with the sights and sounds of Sgt. Pepper due to take over from 1 – 4 June.
Visitors will be able to discover the album that spawned such classics as When I’m Sixty-Four, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and With A Little Help From My Friends in a dance, musical and spoken word interpretation of the tracks.
The Luminarium is a maze of winding paths and soaring domes which are inspired by ancient temples and a container of light immersing guests in colour and sound.
Just like an aquarium is for water, The Luminarium is a container for light and provides an environment where visitors are surrounded by colour and sound either walking through or sitting in a pod and lying back to enjoy the ambience of natural colour projections and music.
After passing through an airlock, visitors are then free to explore or follow a map through the labyrinth of tunnels lit by subtle hues inside cavernous domes which from 1 June will be themed by the famous Beatles tracks.
The Luminarium was designed by Alan Parkinson of Architects of Air.
Similar experiences have been taken to 43 countries and welcomed more than three million visitors.
